The Hope House “Closet” At MBHS
Phyliss Marlette – Hope House Volunteer – Closet Supervisor
Hope House sponsors a small Food/Toiletry Pantry and Clothing Closet at Myrtle Beach High School. These resources are available to any qualifying students in need as determined through the guidance office at the high school. These areas are maintained weekly during the school year by a secured Hope House volunteer(s). The volunteer(s) keep the shelves stocked with any donations that come in as well as assist in purchasing items to re-stock the pantry and closet when needed with funds contributed to Hope House. There are general guidelines in place as to what each qualifying student may shop for, i.e. only one coat and one pair of athletic shoes per student per school year is distributed from the clothing closet and visits may be limited to one per season for other items. Visits to the food/toiletry pantry can be made as often as once per week if a need is determined. All students are accompanied by either a member of the guidance office or by a Hope House volunteer when using these resources.
